Whaler Industrial Contracting Inc. is a well-established and growing construction company focused on heavy industrial, energy, and the oil and gas industry.We are seeking an experienced and energetic individual to join our team and assume a leadership role as a Sr. Estimator.

Key Responsibilities:

-This role will be working closely with the project team during all phases of the project lifecycle including tendering, front end planning, execution and close out.

-Manage all aspects of bidding phases during tendering

-Assesses estimates for potential risks -Review request for proposals issued by the client and develop sub-contract strategy and proposals and estimating strategy

-Applies technical experience to interpret documentation, specifications and drawings.

-Supervise and prepare quantity take-off for labour and material costing.

-Review and evaluate vendor / sub-contractor quotes

-Compile summary recap and organize internal estimate review meetings

-Finalize and compile tender documents for submission.

-Prepare BOM’s to support procurement requirements

-Support the project team upon award of contract during front end planning and execution.

-Effective analyzes construction benchmarks and historical data.

-Attend and participate in site-visits, pre-bid meetings and post –bid meetings as required.

Experience and Education

-A technical diploma from a recognized institute or a degree in mechanical or civil engineering.

- Individuals with trade qualifications and related estimating experience may also be considered.

-Strong computer background including experience with MS Office and related estimating software.

-High attention to detail and accuracy -Strong written and verbal communication skills -Strong coordination and organizational skills -Ability to manage multiple priorities and project deadlines. -Knowledge of costs and budgets and ability to develop project schedules -Ability to close complex tenders, bids and proposals

-Candidate should have minimum 8 years related experience working in construction servicing heavy industrial / oil and gas industry and familiar with lump sum proposals.

-Experience and proficiency with estimating software would be an asset.

-Experience working with a general contractor or mechanical contractor and familiar with earthwork, piling, concrete, module assembly, structural steel, piping fabrication and installation, setting equipment and millwrighting.

-Fluent in reading mechanical and civil drawings
